What Do the Layer Resolution Settings in the New Matter Store Mean?

Last Updated: Mar 31, 2017 11:51AM PDT
The difference between these settings is layer thickness (Z-axis resolution)
High Speed:Default is 400 microns or approximately .016in thick (.4mm) and 10% infill
Balanced: 200 microns or approximately .008in thick (.2mm) and 15% infill
High Quality: 100 microns or approximately .004 in thick ( .1mm about as thick as a human hair) and 20% infill
These settings significantly affect print time to completion because the print time is heavily (almost linearly) dependent on the number of layers needed to add up to make a the part.
So very roughly speaking, printing a part at “High Quality” takes twice as long to print as "Balanced", and “High Speed” takes about half as long to print as "Balanced".
