Can multiple users create newmatter.com accounts and connect to the same mod-t printer via USB?
The MOD-t can only be linked to one New Matter account at a time. If you use USB Mode to connect your MOD-t to the New Matter Store (our website), you will be ale to interact with the printer from any device capable of accessing the internet (phone, tablet, laptop, etc) as long as the MOD-t remains connected to the computer that is running the MOD-t Printer Tool (our desktop application) remains on and the application remains open.
Only the person(s) who have access to the New Matter Store account that the MOD-t is currently linked to will be able to interact with the MOD-t. In situations where you have multiple users who wish to access a single MOD-t, I recommend linking the MOD-t to an account where you are comfortable sharing the login information with everyone who wishes to access the MOD-t. All users who have access to the account will be sharing a library – so do keep that in mind if privacy is a concern – but this is the easiest way to allow multiple users to access a single MOD-t without having to constantly unlink the printer from one account and relink it to the next.
Another option is to consider sending your files to the MOD-t as G-code through the MOD-t Printer Tool (our desktop application). By using this process, there is no need to access the New Matter Store at all, and anyone with access to the computer that the MOD-t is connected to via the USB cable can send files to the printer. The process for creating G-code does require the use of a free 3rd party application, but once you get that all set up the process is quite straightforward. Here is a link to our blog that shows the process for creating/printing G-code in detail:
